They both get what they wanted out of the trade. The way I see it, if both traders agree on the trade- regardless it’s shiny for non-shiny, IV for shiny, legendary for rare ball mons, events for Vivillon patterns, it’s a fair trade because they both agreed on it. I’m positive there are hundreds of players who are just like you they collect shinies and IV breed/comp battle and would never trade a hard earned shiny for a high IV regular Pokemon, but they could also lean more toward comp battling than shiny collecting, and think trading off their 1IV shiny for a 5IV non-shiny is perfectly fair.
